- I make a few notes to keep everything clear and natural
- We film in a place where they feel comfortable
- I use my notes to remind them of stories and get the conversation started
- There's no script and nothing to prepare
- Just a calm, relaxed conversation where they can be themselves
- I carefully edit the footage into a finished personal film
- Music, old videos or photographs can be added to bring memories to life
- The film is made available securely online for family and friends
- A memory stick copy is provided to watch and keep

A personal story
How and why My Life My Story came about.
I've worked in professional video production for over 25 years, helping capture stories and important moments on film.
But everything changed when my stepdad Dave died in 2020. Dave had been unwell for some time and although it was a blessing that he was able to pass away peacefully at home, I realised something that hit me quite hard — I would never see him or hear his voice again. I had no recording of him. No record of his voice, his stories or his calm and gentle way. Nothing. It's something I still regret.
This experience made me realise how important it is to capture who you love on film, while you still can.
That's where the idea for My Life My Story came from — a personal film service to help families preserve voices, stories and memories for now and future generations.
It's a privilege to use my experience to help others capture what matters most, before those moments are lost.
